Planning a production and contextlanni

This task addresses:
Unit 13
Learning outcomes: 1 & 2
Assessment criteria: 1.1, 1.2, 2.1 & 2.2

In undertaking a major project, it is important to understand the context in which you are working why you undertook this project and what influenced your decision e.g. pure interest, potential employment, skill set etc. It is useful also to draw ideas from similar projects to improve your own, learn from their mistakes and build upon their ideas. Research is an essential part of producing a project that is why it is important for you to research all the major elements required to make sure your project is a success.
-
Place your chosen project in context and finalise what you hope to achieve and early plans.
-
You will investigate another similar project and use this to better help structure your own.
-
You will begin your research, which will remain ongoing throughout the full course of the project and will analyse all the factors needed to make sure you have everything ready and a sound knowledge of the main areas your project will cover and the skill set needed.
-
Consider how you will develop and improve these skills and your understanding. Think carefully about Primary sources of information, this is everything needed to make sure you can complete the project, but also look at secondary sources of information.
-
Make sure your research sources are wide and varied, it is not good enough to simply pick and find videos from YouTube and or from online articles. Look for published authors, printed works and E-books, but also consider meeting industry professionals face-to-face.

Create a main page and title it 'Learning Outcomes: 1 & 2' on your “WIX" website and upload the following evidence:
-
Written worksheet - Planning, context and investigation into another project
-
Written worksheet/template "SWOT Analysis”
-
Bibliography/Webliography

Task 4: Unit13, LO 5
Research
This task addresses:
Unit 13
Learning outcome: 5
Assessment criterion: 5.1

As part of your research, you should have looked at and studied the skills and attributes of other musicians, producers and industry professionals to make sure you have a sound understanding of what is needed to make your project a success. For example, Performance Students could be researching vocal techniques (vibrato, expression, falsetto etc) on Youtube, in journals in the library or in online study forums. For Production Students this could be microphone placement or mixing and from this listening and testing a wide range of production techniques and methods they use.
-
You will explore strategies to successfully present a music performance or production. Strategies could include how you would deal with things going wrong during your performance, how you might maximise attendance or how you could encourage crowd engagement.
-
You will demonstrate how you adapt these techniques to suit your own production and apply them correctly and appropriately. Think carefully about the product, whatever that may be, and use what you have learned to make this as professional as possible.
Upload the following evidence for this task to the relevant subpage:

-
Performance Students
Video your rehearsals where you try different performance techniques and skills you have researched along with either written or recorded comments on what worked, what didn't and anything else that you think is relevant.

-
Production Students
Any of the following: audio files, screenshots or photos images of you experimenting, developing and trying out different recording/mixing methods along with either written or recorded comments on what worked, what didn't and anything else that you think is relevant.

Task 5: Unit 13, LO 7
Practical Project

This task addresses:
Unit 13

Assessment criteria: 7.1 & 7.2

This task will require you to use the knowledge, understanding and skills developed in previous units and apply them to the production of a music performance/production.
For this unit use the knowledge, understanding and skills developed in previous units and apply them to the production of your finished project. You might be releasing a music video on YouTube, performing at a festival or releasing an EP recording on iTunes. Whatever form your finished project takes make sure you have explored strategies on how to present it and that the final product is of the highest standard and illustrates professionalism.

Upload the following evidence for this task to the relevant subpage:
Performance Students
-
Video recording of public Performance

Production Students
-
Audio tracks are to be uploaded onto your website or a link so that can be accessed and Logic sessions to be shared on OneDrive to Simon Atkinson and Mario Gazi.
-
If appropriate, CD cover and design or any other artwork related to the project.
Help and Guidance:
Think carefully about how you will capture and provide evidence for the presentation of your project; you have worked hard for this so make sure it is to the highest of standards. Please make check that you have enough memory space on the cameras to record the full performance, the image and lighting are of decent quality, and we can clearly see you when filming. If you are presenting a recording/production project listen carefully back through every second, remember to remove the click-track and any gaps at the start or end of a track.

Task 6:Unit 13, LO 6
This task addresses:
Evaluation/reflection
Unit 13
Learning outcomes: 6
Assessment criteria: 6.1 & 6.2

When you are involved in a major project it is important that you develop an ability to improve over a course of time; this can only be done by evaluating and reflecting on the process you have just undertaken and using the experience to improve in the next project.
This task gives you the chance to reflect on the entire process from start to finish; the good and the bad. What worked, what did you learn and what inspired you to find out more. Think about career paths you may wish to research and how can you build and develop as a music industry professional in the future?
-
Complete an in-depth evaluation that references your ongoing account of all the various aspects of this project, commenting on such things as:
-
the research processes
-
effectiveness of your music project
-
identified objectives and did you achieve them
-
-
-
boundaries and limitations and how you navigated through them.
-
how you coped with a strict timescale.
-
Problems and they were solved.
